Covenant Party on Youtube

The CNMI Covenant Party has launched a youtube site featuring video clips from its successful midterm rally on Sunday, July 12. The Covenant Party is believed to be the first CNMI political party to capitalize on youtube Internet video technology to promote its campaign in the 2009 election cycle. "I encourage all CNMI voters to visit our youtube site to follow our campaign," said Gregorio M. Camacho, the Covenant Party Chairman. Camacho especially urges absentee ballot voters abroad to visit the site and get a sense of the governors' campaign.

The CNMI Covenant Party is gaining strong bipartisan support from both Democrats and Republicans, as prominent Democrats and Republicans were present at the Covenant Party's midterm rally last Sunday.  Republican supporters of former Governor Babauta, including former key Babauta committee officers, are now supporting the Covenant Party. Democrats supporting the Covenant Party include former Speaker Pedro Guerrero, former Senator David Cing (Tinian), former Speaker Vicente M. Sablan, former Governor Froilan Tenorio, and Vicente N. Santos, a CNMI Covenant negotiator, among others.

Former Governor Froilan Tenorio, a former Democrat and Reform Party member, is now a Covenant Party candidate for Precinct 1.

The Covenant Party is expected to field the most complete slate of candidates this year.

June 27, 2009: Covenant Party Respects GOP Primary

On the eve of the Republican Party primary, Covenant Party Chairman Gregorio M. Camacho again repeated his call to respect the GOP primary.

"I respectfully ask all Covenant Party members to please respect the GOP primary process and allow Republicans to choose the candidates of their choice."

Camacho said he regards the GOP primary as an internal Republican Party process and respects this internal party process, urging all Covenant Party loyalists to voluntarily do the same at their own discretion and using their own best judgment. Camacho said every voter has the right to vote or not to vote, as they see fit, and noted that voters electing not to vote in the GOP primary will still be eligible to vote in the general election on November 7. Camacho stated that his call for Covenant Party members to respect the GOP process is strictly voluntarily and that no voter should be coerced into voting or not voting in the GOP primary.

"Ultimately, this is a matter for each Covenant Party member to decide for themselves, but we ask our membership to consider respecting the GOP's internal party affairs," said Camacho.

May 20, 2009: Covenant Party Members Urged to Respect GOP Primary

Gregorio M. Camacho, the Chairman of the Covenant Party, is urging the Covenant Party faithful to respect the GOP primary this year. "I urge all Covenant Party members to respect the Republican Party primary process and not interfere to skew the normal result of such a primary among Republicans," said Camacho. Covenant Chairman Camacho, also known as "Kachuma," said the Covenant Party should not artificially distort the results to favor one side over the other. "We want to see the real results, the real strength of the candidates," said Camacho. Camacho said he didn't want the Covenant Party to speculate on who the weaker or stronger candidate might be, or which GOP slate would be better for the Covenant Party in the general or runoff election. "We will stick to our plans no matter who wins the GOP primary," said Camacho. In a Covenant Party meeting last week, a party official said he believed it would be unseemly for the Covenant party to support a GOP ticket in the primary only to oppose that same ticket in the general or run-off election. "We don't want to play those games. We will compete honorably," said Alvaro Santos.
